Tucked away along a tree-lined drive in the Staffordshire countryside, the current dwelling has been re imagined as a warm, characterful home that celebrates rural living with contemporary ease. The project replaces a modest bungalow with a sensitively designed, spacious two-storey dwelling that blends tradition and modernity.
Set within nearly four acres of beautifully landscaped grounds and surrounded by mature woodland, the new residence is anchored by a central double-height hallway that offers a striking sense of arrival. The home unfolds around this space, leading to light-filled living areas, a family room with garden views, and a comfortable blend of open-plan and intimate rooms.
The exterior palette—red brick, anthracite windows, and traditional roof tiles—roots the house in its setting, while generous glazing and considered architectural detailing ensure a sense of timeless quality. The four-bay garage, home office, and a vaulted swimming pool extension complete the home’s layout, designed to support family life and well-being in equal measure.
Sustainability was an essential driver of the scheme. Locally sourced materials, enhanced biodiversity, and provisions for EV charging reflect our commitment to a future-forward design. With a careful understanding of the site’s heritage and ecology, the proposal enriches the local character while maintaining privacy and seclusion.
As an architect, I approached Blenheim Lodge with the aim of creating a family home that feels rooted in its landscape while delivering modern comfort and character to suit our clients brief.
